GEAR 10K 2021

On a very calm morning in their hometown, KLTC triathletes were practicing their third discipline racing in the Asda Foundation GEAR 2021 10K organised by Run For All. 

Run For All is part of the lasting legacy of the late amateur athlete and fundraiser Jane Tomlinson CBE. Jane, from Leeds, made headlines around the world by taking part in a series of incredible endurance events - despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer. This included ironman triathlon contests and cross-Europe cycle rides. Having been previously postponed twice, a field of 1550 runners completed the new GEAR route for 2021. The first runner home for KLTC was Jason Blackwell in 43:38, loosely followed by Mark Fountain with 44:40. The first lady for the club home was Debbie James in 45:33 achieving 2nd place in her age category. This was her first competitive race since a recent hip operation.

Continuing with his constant improvement saw a 10k PB from Ashish Rastogi 46:17, following the KLTC pack home were Mark Doughty 47:25, Juliette Meek 49:10. Beth Norman raced her first ever 10k in 50:40, Jenna Gotts smiled her way through all 10,000 meters in 59:14.

Annabel Puterbill completed her 10k in 1:03:34 (Pictured Below) then later that morning ran the Mini GEAR with her son Matthew.  Mini GEAR is a 1.8KM course, setting off from Tuesday Market place after the main 10K event, encouraging the next generation of runners or possibly triathletes.....as Matthew himself is waiting to be old enough to join our very own junior training sessions.
