ALL CLUB TRAINING CANCELLED UNTIL AT LEAST 30th APRIL

As you know, we have tried to training sessions going for as long as possible but we have just received an update from British Triathlon Federation (BTF) regarding affiliated club events and activities, which includes our club training sessions.

Based on the latest government guidance around Coronavirus/COVID-19, British Triathlon and the 3 Home Nations (Triathlon England, Triathlon Scotland and Welsh Triathlon) have suspended organised triathlon activity with immediate effect until at least 30 April.

The full announcement can be viewed here –

It is with a very heavy heart that we therefore must advise that ALL club training is now cancelled until the 30th April. This includes our Wednesday and Friday swimming sessions.

This doesn’t however mean you should stop training, there will be races later in the season so please stay motivated and use our Tri community to help with advice, support and ideas. We will try and figure something that we can still do individually, but as a club.

If you have any questions about your training please get in touch.

Best wishes and hopefully see some of you out their training in the fresh air soon.

Wednesday evening Turbo - Cancelled

Turbo training on Wednesday evenings will be cancelled with immediate effect but we will post a session on our members' FB page, so there will be no excuses !
Hopefully there will still be a significant proportion of the race season left so you’ll want to keep training. If you are a member and don't yet have access to the private FB group, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Wednesday morning swimming – Cancelled
Friday evening swimming - Cancelled

Under the advice of the BTF, swimming can no longer continue until we are advised otherwise.
Whilst swimming itself still appears to be very low risk, the social interraction before and after that carries the most risk of cross-infection. If you do continue to swim while venues are open, please shower before and after swimming, and ask if you have Covid-19 symptons, or have travelled abroad in the last week, to please stay away. This website contains a bit of information on what action many pools are taking at present. https://www.pwtag.org/novel-coronavirus-covid-19-latest-information-2/

Other training sessions

Monthly brick (run bike run) session – We will advise in due course

We don't have any scheduled at present, so please check FB and the website for any updates on these

Open water Swimming –  Due to start in May

It is too early to provide detail about what impact the current situation will have on our open water swimming venue, so we will have to let you know nearer the time. Hopefully we will still be able to provide access to the river over the summer. The BTF have veto'd any club training until the 30th April, so all we can do right now is hope.

Informal group/social training

Please do not put yourself or others at risk. We recommend you follow the Government guidelines as they emerge.

If you are in close contact with elderly or those you know who are at increased risk from covid-19, consider carefully whether club/social training is appropriate for you in the short term.

Getting and staying race ready

We are also considering how we can offer virtual training sessions, either through a session plan for you to follow at home or something a little more interactive to help you stay motivated. If you  have any expertise in this area please get in touch to help us all make the best of this situation. If you are kept isolated at home, it would be a great opportunity catch up on all that core work we need but neglect.

Any questions about the above or ideas on how we can help you stay motivated please get in touch.

Best wishes
