Results Weekend 9th - 10th March

Results from the weekend 9th - 10th March are as follows;

Congratulations go to both Geraldine Jordan & Arthur Sargeant for their excellent times at the Ely Duathlon. Geraldine posted a 01:45:03 followed by a 01:52:53 for Arthur at what was his first ever Duathlon. Well done that man.

Another brilliant result for Matt Allen who added to his amazing 3rd place in 01:04:22 at last weekends RAF Duathlon Championship with another podium at the Bedford Standard Duathlon. Coming 20th overall with a 3rd in his age group at 02:08:27.

It was also the conclusion of the Ryston Runners winter X-conutry series and KLTC were well represented

Karen Wood finished 2nd place in the Vet 50 women and Simon Hardy finished 2nd in the Vet 50 men. It was also nice to see KLTC receive the acknowledgement as most improved club.

So well done all for the brilliant results over what was a veyr windy and cold weekend.

first update on new website

Hi all.

As we now have a news feed on the new website I figured I would post a club update. Again massive thanks go to Alistar Doig for sorting the new site. Still have no idea how he manages to do this sort of thing. All magic to me!!

So where to start.

The club training is still going strong with a great level of turn out for the Wednesday swim session. We had our first CSS test in February and it was brilliant to see the level of support for all those who attended. People are most definately improving and there will no doubt be some swim PBs this season. The brick & hill sessions have also been well attended which is good to see.

Events wise we have already had people getting some great results in for KLTC;

Neil Gayton & Paul Terroros both did amazingly well at the Cambridge half marathon posting 1:35:30 & 1:38:54 respectively and Matthew Allen posted a 3rd place at the RAF Duathlon Champs with a time of 1:04:22.

The next events on the radar are the Ely and Bedford duathlons. Good luck to those taking part.

Remember if you are a member of the club and have registered for any event as KLTC please let a committee member know how you got on or post it on the members facebook page.

The next bit of big news is that KLTC are holding an event in conjuction with the Borough Council of Kings Lynn & West Norfolk. We are organising the Sunny Hunny Triathlon which will be held in Hunstanton on the 19th May. This event is aimed at people wishing to try the sport for the first time and is made up of a 200 m pool swim, 18 km bike and a 3.5 km run. If anyone knows someone who would like to have a go please head to the www.britishtriathlon.org and search for sunny hunny tri.

Enjoy your training and stay safe

End of January

Well that’s the first month of the year gone already!!!!

I want to thank everybody for your continued support of the club. Its great to see so many people resubscribing or indeed subscribing for the first time. With so many members it would be great if you could take the time to let everyone know what you have planned this year. Whether you intend to focus on fitness, tackle your first triathlon or go long for the first time please let the club know. Encouragement from like minded people is a great motivator. Just let us know on the Facebook page.

I would like to extend a massive thanks to Jess Cunningham who has put together a great coaching/ training schedule and to everyone who has given up their own time to support these sessions.

Whilst most of us are focusing on events much later in the year when the temperature is up around the double figure mark there is one member of the club who is already heading off on an amazing challenge. Pat Cooke-Rogers is about to begin the Montane Yukon Artic Ultra Challenge 2019 on a fat bike. As the tag line states this is ‘Quite simply the world’s coldest and toughest ultra race. Temperatures can drop as low as -40 deg C!!!!!!! Obviously I hope you all join me in sending good wishes and prayers that she completes the challenge and returns home safely.  Pat you are truly amazing.

Safe training all.
