Calfman Triathlon - Charity Ride
Dan Clarkson competed over in Milton Keynes at the Calfman triathlon hosted by Big Cow Sports last weekend. The Calfman involved a 900 m swim, 46 km bike, 10 km run.
Big cow sports were established in 2003 to host multisport and running events around Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. Named after the wonderful concrete cows of Milton Keynes. Events were designed to take in the Redways, the Linear Parks and the beautiful waterways in the area.
Clarkson swam 900m in open heron water, one of Emberton country park lakes. Mounting the bike he raced 46 k through the rolling Buckinghamshire countryside, culminating in the multi-terrain 10 k run. Clarkson was aiming for under 3 hrs and finished in 3:11:35. He will be competing again in September and aims to achieve his goal.
Our very own plant based triathlete Andre Delgado is taking on a challenge very close to his heart to support a close friend this month.
Delgado is taking on the Cycle 274 Miles in August Challenge for Brain Tumour Research to help them get closer to finding a cure for brain tumours, the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40.
"As many of you may know, I have a brain tumour, but I’m one of the extremely lucky ones as mine is not cancerous. I have been in treatment for over 4 years now and it does not affect my day to day in any shape or form.
A close friend of mine was not as lucky, although his tumour was aggressive he is fighting it hard and making great progress. It’s inspiring to see how he is handling life and his condition”
Delgado decided to join this challenge and hopefully raise £274 doing something he enjoys. But why £274? That’s 10% of how much it costs on average for one day of research for this charity. But, only a few days into August he hit his target and has decided to double it.
Good Luck from all at KLTC.
