Finishing the year in a healthy way with yet again unseasonably warm weather conditions saw four of King's Lynn Triathlon Club members take on the challenge of RAF Marham Flyers new year's eve 10K |
The event now in its 10th year saw Geraldine ‘G’ Jordan, Darren Elsdon, Judith Berry, and Helen Mitchell amongst the 233 finishers representing KLTC on the day. The Run route follows the airfield external perimeter road which is a fast, flat, and largely traffic free route. Competitors were faced with warm but high winds this year instead of the normal cold and icy conditions. Runners on the day commented they found the last 1 mile particularly hard going running into the strong headwind to the finish line. The whole event was run by the Marham Flyers running club, with also a massive thank you to Gary Walker and volunteers for making it possible. The running club was set up to manage all the RAF Marham running events, which also include a summer 10K run and a duathlon (20k bike/10k run. This new years eve charity event raised £2300 for the RAF Benevolent Fund. Final results on the day placed windswept ‘G’ Jordan first finisher for KLTC in 48:22, followed by Berry with 53:52 and Helen Mitchell running 63:00. Elsdon was present in a supportive role only. This was the final event of the year for KLTC and great to see members keeping up fitness levels during this winter period. Please view the 'Events' section for up-and-coming events where lots of KLTC members will be present. Happy new year from KLTC ! |
