Also over in Wales Geraldine 'G-unit' Jordan set her iron cold mental strength on The ROC, Snowdon's own endurance Triathlon. A demanding 115km race rich in challenges & crammed full of inspiring terrain setting off from Abersoch beach and aiming to reach the summit of Snowdon and back. Jordan started on the golden sands with a 1.5 km 12.7 degree sea swim in the village's idyllic bay before heading off on a 50 km fast and progressively undulating bike route into the Snowdon Massif. The race then took her on foot via the toughest route up Wales highest mountain along the watkin path, 6km of 3,085ft formidable ascent to the summit where she absorbed those exceptional panoramic views before heading 6km back down, on well warmed up legs Jordan cycled 50km back, culminating with a 1km run along Abersoch beach before crossing the finish line to a well-deserved after-race party to celebrate what she achieved! Jordan finished this gruelling physical and mental challenge in 07:20:57, she was also in friendly sibling competition with her brother Paul who finished in 07:46:39. Jordan quoted "A brilliantly brutal race with spectacular scenery. There was such a party atmosphere and tremendous support for the 1k beach run to the finish line. The whole event was ran by theroc.com, this was one of only three races they do…Ben Nevis, Snowdon & Scafell Pike. I'm now trying to fight off the temptation to complete the trilogy" |

Steve Bowdery was over in Nottingham at the national water sports centre for this year's Outlaw X weekend 2022. The so-called 70.3 distance tests both your mental and physical strength as you swim 1.2 miles (1.9K), bike 56 miles (90K), and run 13.1 miles (21.1K) Bowdery swam the centres lake , then mounted his bike to embark on a spectacular ride through the north Nottinghamshire countryside before completing his journey with a half marathon run through 1000 acres of unspoiled English countryside within the grounds of the historic Park. KLTC’s Dave & Shelley Neale, Jenna Gotts, and Pat Cooke-Rogers volunteered and supported Bowdrey and fellow competitors on the day as he set a time of 06:45:31. Bowdrey quotes " Knew I hadn't trained enough so it was less about time and more about finish line. I'd decided I wanted to get around feeling fairly comfortable so I took all pressure off and just enjoyed it. The Swim was brilliant and the water temp was spot on, bike was a steady ride with no wind to deal with. The roads were not the best so it was a bit like offroading in some areas. Finished with a very hot run, It did give rain for the run but it lied..... as it was scorching..." |
