Members of the King’s Lynn Triathlon Club showcased their talent and determination at the renowned Outlaw Triathlon weekend in Nottingham, held over a packed and competitive race weekend. Athletes from the club took on both the Sprint and the Half-distance triathlons, competing against hundreds of athletes from across the UK and beyond. The event, widely regarded as one of the premier fixtures on the UK triathlon calendar, featured challenging courses, enthusiastic crowds, and ideal conditions for racing. In Saturday’s Outlaw Nottingham Sprint Triathlon, which features a 750m open-water swim, 19km bike ride, and 5km run, four club members took to the start line. Leading the way was Mark Fountain, who delivered a standout performance, finishing in a time of 1:20:32. Mark showed strong form across all three disciplines, combining speed and composure to lead the King’s Lynn contingent. Following closely was Debbie James, who completed the course in a confident 1:25:16, maintaining steady pacing and a powerful finish on the run. Nicki Brown wasn’t far behind, crossing the line in 1:27:12 after a solid all-around effort. Kevin Took rounded off the club's Sprint results with a consistent and determined performance, clocking 1:29:56 which included an enthusiastic, somewhat accidently fifth lap of the four-lap bike course. The Sprint team’s results reflected strong preparation and a cohesive showing from the club.
Sunday saw the staging of the Outlaw Half Triathlon, a formidable test of endurance comprising a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride, and 13.1-mile half marathon. Representing King’s Lynn in this challenging event was Helen Melville, who tackled the course with remarkable grit and perseverance. Helen completed the Half in an admirable 6:35:28, pushing through the physical and mental demands of the long-distance format to earn her finisher’s medal. Club officials praised all five athletes for their efforts, noting not only their strong individual performances but also the way they represented the spirit and camaraderie of the club. “These results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our members,” said a club spokesperson. “The Outlaw Triathlon series attracts a high calibre of competitors, and it’s fantastic to see King’s Lynn Tri Club athletes competing with pride and strength on such a big stage.” With members regularly participating in national events and achieving personal milestones, the weekend’s results once again highlighted the depth of talent within the club. Whether it’s short-format races or long-distance endurance challenges, King’s Lynn Tri Club continues to support and develop athletes of all levels, from newcomers to seasoned competitors. As the triathlon season progresses, the club looks ahead to further races and events, confident that its athletes will continue to deliver impressive performances across the country. |
