Sunday 27th October was the popular Fen 10, a ten mile run through Wisbech. Steven Bowdery, Nigel Banyard and Jemma Redhead ran for the KLTC on this lovely sunny morning. Bowdery had been taking a break since he smashed the Ironman in Wales in September. Today marked the start of his winter training and he crossed the line in an impressive 1.23.02. Redhead who had also cut back on her training recently knew she would struggle with today’s race. After a slow start she sighted team mate Banyard ahead in the distance, she made it her mission to catch him. With only 600 metres to the finish line, Banyard spotted Redhead about to catch up and overtake him. Having already experienced her sneaky passes in previous races, he called out ‘not this time!’ and made a sprint to the finish line. Banyard finished in 1.42.01 and Redhead finished with a PB 1.42.28.
Junior member Alice Page (15) took on her 1st cycling hill climb event in Flitcham, organised by the KLCC. She done an amazing job and completed the one mile climb in 5min 04sec.
Slightly further afield Paul and Victoria Dunthorne took part in a picturesque 10km run in Venice, crossing 14 bridges including a floating pontoon over the Grand Canal built especially for the event. Paul finished in 52.25 whilst Victoria combined running and sightseeing, finishing in 1hr 32min.
