Sunday 3rd November Debbie James (lover of all courses that are wet, sodden and filthy) once again did her club proud by coming 3rd in her age group on Sunday’s cross country race at Houghton Hall. The five mile course consisted of three laps of wet, muddy, churned up ground, cattle grids, steps, bomb holes, cow pat corner and something called ‘the pit’!
Junior members Esmie and Lola Kidman also excelled in the boggy conditions and came away with medals coming 3rd and 2nd in their age categories. Other club members to complete the course were Steven Bowdery, Ian Kidman, Anna Seaman and Stefan Sprawling.
Meanwhile, over in the states, Jenna Gotts ran the New York Marathon in a fantastic time of 5.29.55. Gotts stated '...I was on for finishing in 4hr 50min but I developed stomach issues at mile 19'. Earlier in the week, Maureen Wolfe enjoyed the sun and scenery of Mallorca whilst running a 10km race in 47.36. She was 4th lady to cross the line and 22nd overall.
Sunday saw the start of the clubs winter training programme. Eight members headed over to Sandringham for the 1st session of the new monthly hill training. They were given advice and techniques on how to tackle running up and down hills before being put through their paces.
