At last!!! Members of the Kings Lynn triathlon club have come out of hibernation and scooped up some impressive medals!
Sunday 8th saw the last of the Shouldham Warren grand prix series. Simon Hardy flew round the 6.5km course in 26.46 and came 2nd in his age group. Darren Elsdon, the only other KLTC adult competitor finished in 30.54, coming 4th in his category.
Unfortunately, due to injury, Debbie James was unable to race but was thrilled to receive a medal for coming 3rd in the series overall!
Junior competitor Lola Kidman once again showed us what her hard work and dedication can achieve. She came 4th on the day in the U11 age group and 3rd overall in the series. Thomas Elsdon performed brilliantly coming 8th in the U9 age group, only a day after he took part in the local swimming Gala , winning silver in the 200m breastroke and three PBs!
Over in Thetford, 570 runners took part in the muddy Trail half marathon, Tim Eyles crossed the line in an epic time of 1.48.57 placing him 100th overall and 9th in his age group.
Juliette Meek did herself proud by completing her 9th full marathon! She blitzed her way round the Marriotts way course in 4hr 18min, coming 1st in her age division and 2nd female overall.
Six members took part in the Cambridge half marathon, first to finish was Mark Doughty (Ryston runners) in 1.43.01, very closely followed by Ashish Rastogi (KL comminuty runners) 1.45.09, 3rd triathlete over the line was John Sayer in 2.0.44, earning himself a pb by 10 minutes! Marie Doughty (Dunerunners) 2.13.42 was next to finish closely followed by Steven Pentland (Run DMC) 2.17.01 and Vicky Dunthorne 3.06.28
Steven Bowdery completed the 'Burghley 7' in an awesome time of 56 minutes. When interviewed about his race experience, Bowdery stated 'it went well'. We had to cut his interview short as he does tend to go on a bit and there was a danger of him using four words!
Bowdery is an awe inspiring athlete and this is the 1st of eight events he is competing in this year, in order to raise money again for a local charity close to his heart.
Steven’s daughter has learning difficulties and as such, finds it difficult to socialise. She attends an amazing local club run by a group of tireless individuals who create a safe environment for people like his daughter, to make friends and enjoy the benefits of socialising with others.
Steven will also be racing in the GEAR 10km, one full Ironman, 3 half ironmans, a full marathon and a half marathon! Please help him reach his target of £500 by donating to www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/steven-bowdery-2
Finally, congratulations to the club’s other junior members, Alice Page, Esmie Kidman and Sophie Doig for winning medals at the swimming gala on Saturday.
