2023 Club Training Overview - Provisional



Welcome to our provisional training program for 2023.

We aim to offer a number of weekly and monthly training sessions across all disciplines suitable for all abilities. All sessions provide a structured workout designed by our club coaches. Winter training is more focused on getting the basics right, working on your weaknesses as well as strength training to prepare you for race-specific training early next year.


Swim Training

Pool Swimming (all Year) 

  • Adults only
  • Day: Every Tuesday evening
  • Time: 2030 – 2130
  • Venue: St James Swimming Pool, King’s Lynn. PE30 1NY
  • PRE-BOOKING ONLY

We have 2 lanes available. As a general guide Lane 1 = 2:00min and over/100m, Lane 2 = sub 2:00min/100m (based on CSS times).
Numbers per lane are restricted due to Covid-19 so we have had to make this a members-only session for the time being.
We can still accommodate less confident swimmers but overtaking is not allowed by the pool so ask that you at least be able to swim unaided for at least 200m.
If you don’t know your CSS time you can work it out by doing your own time test or come along to one of our CSS timed sessions and check your progress. To find out more about CSS click here

Open Water Swimming (Spring/Summer) -  TBC

  • Adults & Juniors
  • Day: Wed/Fri/Sat
  • Time: Varies
  • Venue: Premier Water Ski School, Pentney Lakes.
  • Members and non-members
  • KLTC members discount.

We have partnered up with PWSS for 2021 to ensure our members have someplace safe to swim. All swim fees are payable to PWSS directly but KLTC members get to swim at a generously discounted rate.
The sessions are going to be timed to coincide with Pentney's lakeside S&C sessions so it should be possible to really make the most of your visit.
Once the club is able to, we will host special coached sessions and races throughout the remainder of the season.


Indoor Cycling/Turbo Training
  • Day: Mondays
  • Time: 1915
  • Venue: Online (Zoom / Zwift)
  • Cost: Free for members 

These are ideal to build fitness and strength over the winter as well as build stamina and endurance ready to hit the roads in April. These sessions are intensive but suitable for all abilities. Everyone follows the same session but at their own pace/capability.

One of our coaches will lead the group ride on Zwift alongside a workout. There is no need to have a Zwift account however as our coaches talk you through the workout and you can follow the action over zoom. Details are posted each week on Facebook


 Brick/Duathlon (Run/Bike/Run) Training 

  • Adults and Juniors 14yrs and over
  • Day/Time: All Year
  • Venue: Ashwicken

We normally plan to organise at least one brick session per month, giving members the chance to practice running off the bike

 

BRICK Training Session. This is a mix and match session to suit your training needs and a chance to train with your fellow tri buddies.
As well as getting a bit of run/bike training in these sessions are ideal to practise your transitions. If you are new to triathlon these sessions are a great place to ask questions and find out more about how triathlon works.

Session: Everyone starts at 09:00 but you can Run/Bike/Run, Bike/Run or just Run or just Bike, it's up to you.

Hill/Trail Running Session

  • Adults and Juniors welcome, Juniors under 14 must be accompanied
  • Day/Time: Monthly, dates will vary.
  • Venue: The Venue will vary depending on the session -

These are led trail runs involving hill reps and other interval sets. These sessions are ideal to build fitness and strength over the winter. These sessions are intensive but suitable for all abilities.

Free for KLTC members, £3 for non-members
