Bedford Team Relays 2024

Our club has provisionally booked 3 teams in to this year's Bedford Relays on Sun 21st July.
WE ARE URRENTLY LOOKING FOR INTEREST, NO PAYMENTS REQUIRED YET

We don't often get a chance to race as a team, but when we do it is normally a bit of a larf. This event is particularly relaxed and, crucially, the event T-shirt is normally pretty good. It is set to be huge again this year with over 100 teams.

Entry is open to ALL members of KLTC, irrespective of experience and ability. We try to mix the teams up so that everyone finishes at roughly the same time. Non-members known to the club, or prospective members are welcome to register to play too, but members will be given preference.
The minimum age is 15 on the 31st Decemebr, 2024.

Dont't worry if you are new to Triathlon, Open Water swimming or our club, there will be plenty of opportunity to train beforehand with as a club and we all support each other on the day. Did we mention it is fun?

Logistically, it is an early start so we all rock up and register on the morning and we have lunch at a local pub on the way home. It is also possible to camp onsite on the Sat evening but you need to arrange that yourself. Car sharing is normally possible.

Race Format: Swim 750m: Bike 20k : Run 5k.

A team consists of 3 athletes, who each complete the swim as a relay, then the bike as a relay and then the run relay; all three members of the team will complete each discipline in turn before the team moves on to the next discipline. If you are generally slow or nervous in transition, this race format is perfect for you and even adds to the fun.

Both the Swim and the run are in Box End park, making for a great spectator experience as well as great racing. The bike course is out on the local roads with some fast sections and the odd hill to get you out of the saddle.

The full cost per team is £180 (£60/entry) but the club has once again agreed to subsidise entries so it is only £45/entry. There is also the matter of a BTF race pass if not already a BTF member, which is  £2 for U24 and £8 for over 24s and will need to be purchased online before the race yourself - we will let you know how when once we are sure of numbers.
