April has been an interesting month with hot weather followed closely with the standard wind and rain!!. It also saw members completing Duathlons and the frist Triathlons of the season. Not to mention cracking on with some quality training....all thanks to Jess Cunningham.
Massive congratulations have to go to Matty Allen who competed at both the interservice duathlon and the world duathlon championships in Spain!! A great result saw him come home in a little over 2 hours with a 15th place for his age group and a 3rd place GB athlete. Not bad considering it was the world championships and he has now pre-qualified for next years championship in Holland. Amazing!!
The club saw a great turn out at the East Coast Triathlon weekend. Despite the very windy conditions Alice Page and Jemma Red both managed 1st place positions in their Age Groups. Considering that this was the first ever official triathlon for Alice I foresee great things for this junior member.
Arthur Sargent had a great outing coming 3rd in his age group only one minute behind the group winner. An unlucky red light meant he had to stop and this cost him....damn highway code!!
Andre Delgado, Philip Yates, Debbie James and David Hicks all enjoyed their first dip into the world of triathlon with excellent results.
Jenna Gotts perfomed well in Lincoln as the only representative of the club at the Lincoln Sprint Triathlon.
Great job all.
As the Tri season is now well underway there will be plenty more opportunities for age group places, podiums and PBs. Onwards and upwards for the club.
So what does May hold for KLTC?
Yes its that time of year!!! Open Water Swimming returns....yeah!! dust off the wetsuits, find the polerised goggles, fix the leak on the chill swim and buy new lube!! The first session will be taking place on the 4th and ever Saturday after at the Ouse Amatuer Sailing Club, Saddlebow, 08:30 to 09:30. Water temperature will be ......lovely. Be great to see you there.
The next big news is the Sunny Hunny Triathlon that the club have organised in partnership with BCKLWN and Alive liesure. The event is now 95% full (at time of writing) and will be taking place 19th May. If you can help out in a volunteer role please let us know via Facebook.
The club would not be a club with out the fantastic support of all our members and members families. Keep up the good work, train safe and let us know how you get on at your races.
Thanks
Steve
